Tansen

Tansen, one of the greatest singers, composers and musicians in Indian Classical music, was one of the nine jewels in the court of Emperor Akbar. Tansen, born as Ramtanu to a Hindu family, came to be known as Mian Tansen, the nickname conferred on him by Emperor Akbar. This title on the great musician who pioneered the Dhrupad style of singing, narrates his story about how he learnt music from his Hindu as well as Muslim gurus and who also later married a Muslim girl.
